Welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere. After a couple of years of mucking about, I’ve decided to go ahead and launch a blog about technology and the ethics of technology use. It will focus on information and communication techs, mostly, but I’ll likely head off topic at times. Some of what I do is aggregation, some is commentary. Really, I’m hoping this will be a space to think about what we’re doing with all these wondrous devices that surround us these days–and whether or not the things we are doing are really making our lives better.

Of course, what counts as “making our lives better” has a lot to do with your definition of better. My own definition of better has a lot to do with my upbringing, my experience within American culture, and what I have chosen to take from them. We are all embedded in rich contexts–none of us can get away from that. They help make us who we are.

This blog will be open to different perspectives (when respectfully voiced), but I can’t help but be who I am. That means that my approach to the good in technology is heavily informed by my Roman Catholic perspective.

Better is about more than just rights and freedom. It is also about integral human development and the common good. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
